Research into Biosimilar antibodies
The term biosimilar refers to biological products which structure, function and efficacy is similar to that of an FDA-approved biopharmaceutical. Biosimilars are designed to mimic drugs and, while they are not identical, they have similar activity. To date, not many biosimilar proteins and antibodies have been approved for clinical use, but many have become useful research tools as they enable evaluation of the effects of many biopharmaceuticals in an easy and less expensive manner.
